charles at 14......

the Malines prison is located north west of Brussels....this particular prison has now been converted into modern apartments. I visited it in October 2006 and discussed this with the museum director who told me that the city had made a deal that they could have museum about the prison if they allowed the rest of the compound to be converted in to apartments...the middle yard where prisoner were gathered and separated from their suitcases, is now a treelined and has an underground parking lot. To me it was as if historyhad been erased.

To be left with the feeling as if history had been erased is devastating and wrong. There should be memorials for the lost lives never to be forgotten 💔.
